Three days later

Today, Madison was released from the hospital. She was staying with me until I could find her bitch of a husband. He had to pay. There was no way he was getting away with what he did to my sister. I have never seen my sister so broken, so fragile in my life. She has always been this vibrant and happy person, and for him to take that away from her, he had to go.

As we entered my guest room, she immediately went into the bathroom, closing the door behind her. After a couple of minutes went by, and I didn’t hear anything, I walked over to the bathroom door and called out to her.

“Maddy, are you ok? You need help getting undressed?” I yelled through the door, but I didn’t get a response.

My heart started to pound in my chest. I didn’t know the state of mind she was in and didn’t want her to harm herself. Trying the door, I was relieved to find that it was open. When I walked in, she was sitting on the bathroom floor in her bra and panties with her arms wrapped around herself as she cried. Tears immediately fell from my eyes from the scene before me. Making my way over to her, I dropped to my knees and pulled her into my arms. I held her tight as her cries got louder. The shit hurt my soul.

“I was so scared that he was going to kill me,” She sobbed.

“Why didn’t you say anything, Maddy? Why would you allow this to go on for so long?” I lifted her head and looked at her.

“I was scared. He threatened to take CJ away from me if I left. I couldn’t let him take my baby.” She looked at me with sad eyes.

“You could have come to me, or even mom. We wouldn’t let that happen, boo. I don’t want you to ever feel like you're alone, that you have no one,” my voice cracked.

“Jasmine, you don’t understand. Christian is a man who doesn't play fair. He’s a very well-known attorney that has people in high places. I couldn’t take that chance,” she cried as I held her tight in my arms.

“Come on,” I helped her up off the floor. “You need me to help you in the shower?” She shook her head no.

Two hours later, I had Madison squared away. It took her some time, but she finally was able to get some sleep. The more I stood there staring down at my sister’s face, the angrier I got. My nostrils flared, and I stormed out the room. That motherfucker put his hands on my sister for the last time. I got something for that ass. He got me fucked up. Entering my room, I walked inside my walk-in closet, pulled out an all-black sweatsuit and some black Timbs. After I got dressed, I sat on the bed and laced up my boots. I hopped up and walked over to my end table, got one of my twins, and tucked it into my hoodie.
